But I'm sorry if he really left

Is your dad a boomerang

688

u/smokethis1st 1d ago

No, he’s in an urn

409

u/baddie_PRO 1d ago

this has been a rollercoaster

300

u/smokethis1st 1d ago

Truth is, he’s alive and well

184

u/AbsurdPrime 1d ago

5 comments and I’m already obsessed with this lore.

Where is he now?

78

u/NotJarJar-Binks 1d ago

I wanna see where this goes

141

u/smokethis1st 1d ago

Nowhere exciting unfortunately. Typical of me, a lot of excitement out the gate and then a quick boring finale

6

u/lxxTBonexxl 1d ago

Correct answer is he’s still stuck in traffic

I ship the dad and his urn

Arthur, Jake, and Aleta are fantastic.

There's an excellent chance I purchase one or more once I move into my new space.

60

u/NickDangerrr 1d ago

That’s the beauty of this style. Those are nice but I was drawn to a few others. Such good stuff!

21

u/voopamoopa 1d ago

I am trying to convince the hubby to buy the piece June. But I gotta check of there is delivery to Europe. Really good stuff.

I love these so much!!

34

u/thornsandroses 1d ago

You know how people with common names can always find their names on those generic personalized items? Well I've never been able to find any even close to my name, but your dad's Aleta is the closest I've ever seen to my name anywhere. It's just missing an r and another t. Seeing that really made me smile, thanks!

22

u/seasickagain 1d ago

Alretta? Talerta. Raletat.

35

u/AwkwardSeth 1d ago

Its actually Rattata

Nice try, Ale Tart.

Edit: But seriously, I bet it is Terata which has a horrible definition.

He names them after people he knows, and for some weird reason, there's a lot of people with uncommon names in Maine. He even has one named Enoch, which is a very old Hebrew name that I have only ever heard twice, both in Maine.

4

u/Jazzlike-Process-382 1d ago

Enoch is my favorite ❤️ is it for sale?

Your dad's art... is the prettiest art of all the art.

12

u/Agnt_Michael_Scarn 1d ago

That is our building. And we sell paper…..

I am really proud of you.

6

u/fuckitweredoingitliv 1d ago

You know what I find sexy? Your dads art.

276

u/livdro650 2d ago

your dad is an excellent artist. Did he wear the clothes he painted in as a living artistic piece to complement the more traditional art or did he just finish painting them?

154

u/LoveMeSomeGoodLife 2d ago

the art in the photo are actually pieces of leftover dried bucket paint! But printed giant! He's thought about doing something with the clothes though too lol

38

u/livdro650 2d ago

Elijah and Gurt are my favorites. I love how resourceful he is!

19

u/LoveMeSomeGoodLife 2d ago

Those are some of my faves too!

6

u/ediblesprysky 1d ago

I was wondering how that worked!!! So are they named for the people whose houses the paint bucket images came from?

8

u/llllll_llllll 2d ago

Great œuvres d'art! I'm curious why are they printed and are not framed though?

10

u/CathedralEngine 1d ago

Scale, desirability. The paint buckets he uses for the dried paint are only a few inches in height, so the originals are usually only a few inches in size, I’m guessing maybe 4” x 6”. Most buyers want something larger to hang on the wall to catch the eye easily, so larger sizes tend to sell better. The disconnect requires reproduction.

That’s just my guess though.
