Frank gargle-vomiting beer will always be my favorite moment from this show. He's so goddamn disgusting. I cried laughing the first time I watched this scene.

47

u/Picard2331 Jun 12 '21

The always sunny bloopers are so fucking funny and impresses me at how much they improvise so many scenes.

u/Just_trying_it_out Jun 12 '21

Lol the second scene a minute in is Mac constantly cracking up while trying to say “eww” to Charlie banging Dee who he’s married to in real life

u/Drohan_Santana Jun 12 '21

Online, online, online

I think he meant Mac is married to Dee in real life

13

u/Pudding_Hero Jun 12 '21

You will CALL HER

64

u/DogmaticNuance Jun 12 '21

Mine is a tie between Charlie vomiting blood, and confronting Santa. Honestly though, I wouldn't suggest watching either out of context because while they're funny the context makes them so much better.

44

u/Just_trying_it_out Jun 12 '21

Charlie vomiting blood was one of the few scenes of watching something by myself that I laughed out loud hard

Frank inviting her to dinner during it and the follow up vomit still gets me no matter how many times I’ve seen it

20

u/boywoods Jun 12 '21

This is my favourite Always Sunny episode. It’s got so many memorable moments and quotes:

  • Charlie vomiting blood
  • Frank offering an egg in these trying times
  • Boiling denim
  • a jacket tighter than dick skin
  • a dead hooker

FYI the episode is “Frank’s Pretty Woman” for those interested.

19

u/risbia Jun 12 '21

I love the whimsical soundtrack they always use for these depraved scenes, hahaha

24

u/GameShill Jun 12 '21

5

u/kenman Jun 12 '21

I always wondered how their jingles were so nostalgia-laden, I didn't really think they were modern tunes but I also had never heard them before. Makes sense now knowing the full story, so thanks for that.

5

u/GameShill Jun 12 '21

I have really enjoyed the modern renaissance of music from all ages.

The Marcus King Band sounds like old-timey blues.

Greta Van Fleet sounds like golden age Led Zeppelin.

Swing-jazz is making a comeback with electro-swing like Parov Stelar.

Anyone can make music now. All you need is a computer, some instruments, and the audacity to do it.

2

u/kenman Jun 12 '21

Good stuff! The electro-swing stuff is lots of fun, I can't listen to it daily but I've seen several videos here that used it as background and it's a great fit. The Marcus King Band kinda sorta reminds me of Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, at least from the small bit I sampled.

Re: anyone can make music now, it's indeed great. It's no longer required to sign with a big label, spend thousands on studio time (+ mixing/editing/etc.), and all that. No doubt that stuff can help if you want to go mainstream, but to get started... just about anyone can record something at home and then put it in on any number of streaming services to get it out there. The barrier to entry is so low and it's preventing a lot of the homogenization we saw pre-internet. Love it.

You shared quite a few tunes, so I'll share a guilty pleasure I found on Spotify: Closer (Stripped) · Nairuz. The "stripped" is because there's a full version that just adds an atmospheric background track, but the piano alone is just masterful to my ears. Quite a bit different than yours, but I think a nice nod to music of previous days.

6

u/beethy Jun 12 '21

Mac just elbowing that woman made the scene even better. Goddamn I love that show so much.

3

u/vinegarstrokes1 Jun 12 '21

I’m cracking up laying in bed. Thanks for this

5

u/Cheesesticks1977 Jun 12 '21

I always called it the beer volcano. And it too is my favorite thing.

1

u/IamtheSlothKing Jun 12 '21

Lizard, am I standing in poop?

1

u/NanoPope Jun 12 '21

Ohhhh where’d you come from!?!

1

u/DrWangerBanger Jun 13 '21

I've watched that scene a thousand times and I still don't understand where that beer comes up from. It very much looks like he swallows that beer and there are no cuts from the swallow to the point where he vomits it all back up again. How does he do that?

0

u/Floatingairbiscuits Jun 12 '21

Haha, He also does have the best tits on TV.

56

u/KTWM1987 Jun 12 '21

The Charlie Work episode is my favorite. The set up for Frank is perfect, I do that awkward silent laugh thing everytime when the camera zooms in to him opening his eyes

18

u/TheFuturist25 Jun 12 '21

Frank went from losing his shoes....to painting his shoes...to painting his whole body...it's textbook

7

u/Noltonn Jun 12 '21

I'm just a sucker for long takes. The cuts were a bit obvious sometimes, but overall, still very well done.

5

u/Awkward_Bowler Jun 12 '21

One of the best episodes of any TV show, IMO...

2

u/bonerJR Jun 12 '21

One of the best episodes for sure

30

u/MikeDubbz Jun 12 '21 edited Jun 12 '21

Man it's kinda nuts how different most of them look now compared to when they shot this (nearly 15 years ago now!). Charlie and Glenn do look more or less the same, Kaitlin got some noticeable work done, Danny looks so much older now than he did here, and Rob just looks like an entirely different person at this point.

24

u/_mattgrantmusic_ Jun 12 '21

Rob is kind of the ideal of going from being a sort of Schlubby guy in your 20s to ageing incredibly well to the point of looking actually better in your 40s.

24

u/blondechinesehair Jun 12 '21

Don’t forget when he put on 50 lbs and grew a beard for a year in the middle there

21

u/NeitherAlexNorAlice Jun 12 '21

Just cultivating mass, bro

11

u/blondechinesehair Jun 12 '21

Well it’s time to stop cultivating and start harvesting

5

u/Caveman108 Jun 12 '21

Getting the trainer from Magic Mike will do that.

-18

u/_mattgrantmusic_ Jun 12 '21 edited Jun 12 '21

Meh its everybody's go to that people like Rob only manage to look that good through incredible personal trainers so therefore it's out of range for the rest of us. I'm skeptical of that. I think if you can apply an understanding of calories, nutrition, body fat percentages, know which exercises train certain muscles, do them with correct form and remain consistent you can do (almost) as well alone.

I know why this is unpopular. Its unpopular because its insufferable. Its unsufferable to be lectured by an anonymous commentator that this is a hard truth. No one wants to feel like they can really get into great shape that comes even half the way near to Rob's shape without the aid of some unrealistically attainable variable and its a perfect cop out to believe that.

20

u/Caveman108 Jun 12 '21

No, he couldn’t. He said it himself. He tried, and he wasn’t getting there so they hired the trainer from Magic Mike because they’re friends. https://youtu.be/ZPOzOanrNyg

-19

u/_mattgrantmusic_ Jun 12 '21

He Couldn't.

I didn't say that another person couldn't, or at least cant come close.

My point still stands- people write off feeling as though they can only get in a similarly good shape, because they think without the best trainers and program that money can buy, thats only limited to celebs, its impossible.

9

u/Caveman108 Jun 12 '21

Did you watch the video?

-13

u/_mattgrantmusic_ Jun 12 '21

I've seen it. But I'm actually kind of against robs outlook. He argues himself that its all but impossible without the help of best trainers/big money/endless time. But its that sort of mentality that can do a disservice to the average persons enthusiasm/motivation for getting in great shape. I'm not arguing getting in the shape of robs at the minute level of all the different areas in which he's ripped, and the perfect aesthetics of that... but the next person can get down to 7/8% body fat, have a great diet and regime all by themselves and that doesn't absolutely have to be determined on factors that are out of reach for us plebs.

12

u/Caveman108 Jun 12 '21

Getting in shape is not being Hollywood jacked. Getting in shape is doable by anyone. Getting Hollywood jacked would take complete and total dedication to that and nothing else.

-5

u/_mattgrantmusic_ Jun 12 '21 edited Jun 12 '21

Getting in shape is a spectrum, and more subjective to your own ideals imo. Getting in great shape for me would be getting down to single digit body fat and having an aesthetically good muscle ratio. Maybe that would be "Hollywood Jacked" by someone elses.

I've seen guys at the gym that have a similar body comp as "Hollywood jacked" celebs, and I retain that you can reach that through your own steady commitment. Sacrificing alcohol consumption and junk food yes but not necessarily having to spend 6 hours in the gym every day AND needing the top trainers to facilitate 100% of that. And ultimately, not having an outlook that means you are destined to fall short without the privilege.

Brad Pitt had an amazing body in fight club.. but followed a fairly straightforward regime that anyone can actually get access too, as an example. And losing the body fat, and applying the protein consumption that is necessary to reach that goal is also just as straightforward.

u/QPDFrags Jun 12 '21

No clue why your getting down voted.

Rob's physique was crazy in that season and was almost definetly PED's and incredibly hard training and strict dieting.

Its very much achievable without an incredible personal trainer. PT's do not know huge secrets. Their job in a nut shell is to basically motivate you and keep you on track, not show you some secret exercise programe that is gonna get you incredible gains or show you some secret food that burns fat super fast (not a thing).

Although Rob may of struggled and majority would (it takes hard fucking work to get that low Body Fat and size) It does not mean its impossible in the slightest and you *dont* need a PT to do that.

Source: Am a PT, and friends with a guy who got down to sub Rob's body fat levels and was decent size without PED's.

3

u/TheWorldEndsWithCake Jun 12 '21

He’s not saying it is literally impossible, he’s saying it’s unrealistic for most people. You need the motivation and time, and it is way easier to do it when a studio is paying for a personal chef and trainer, and it is literally your job. If you have a non-physical 9-5, friends, family, social obligations, etc., a regular person has to cut a lot of things to accomplish that kind of body and most people do not have the time.

The person you’re responding to is getting downvoted because he just keeps saying “you cAn dO tHIS wItHoUT a pErSoNaL TrAiNER”. No shit, but that’s another extra thing you have to figure out for yourself if your employer isn’t paying a team of people to make your fitness more achievable. THAT is Rob’s point; you can do it, but his level of physique is completely unrealistic outside of Hollywood. If you’re a PT, do you not have people that ask you to help them figure out what to do? Surely you recognize the difference between telling somebody to eat less and do pushups vs a detailed, personalized training plan that you supervise twice per day.

3

u/vinidiot Jun 12 '21

He's on steroids/"TRT".

1

u/_mattgrantmusic_ Jun 12 '21

That's why I specified almost as well.

3

u/vinidiot Jun 12 '21

You have to understand that the dude is 44 years old. At that age, you simply cannot build muscle mass and get shredded like that without pharmacological help. No amount of chicken breast, protein shakes, or bodybuilding routines is going to get you there.

-1

u/bestsrsfaceever Jun 12 '21

There isn't evidence to say you can't build muscle in your 40s. I think for most 40 year olds, the problem is just not having time to dedicate to fitness. People in Hollywood generally take gear because they need to get shredded in 6 months, not because it's impossible for them to gain muscle and lose fat without it

5

u/Just_trying_it_out Jun 12 '21

Rob has gone through crazy weight gain and then insane fitness regimen though

Also if you’ve seen the more recent episode “Dee Day”, it’s funny how they make Dennis look under all his makeup

2

u/MikeDubbz Jun 12 '21

Yeah Rob is nuts, he's definitely dedicated to his craft, I respect the hell out of him.

4

u/kooby95 Jun 12 '21

Dee very clearly has her face stapled to the back of her head and I find it super distracting how different she looks

6

u/MikeDubbz Jun 12 '21

Yeah it was either this last season premiere, or the season premiere before where when you first see her after whatever work she had done, and it was jarring. She didn't even need any work done, that's what I don't get when people like her go and do that.

29

u/brusiddit Jun 12 '21

I remember them saying their inspo for its always sunny in philidelphia was "friends, but they are all assholes to each other". I felt that it was like Seinfeld, but the way people used to swim in pantaloons and now they wear thongs.

10

u/Just_trying_it_out Jun 12 '21

It’s cool how great the comedy gets when they can fully embrace that the main characters are assholes. No more expected happy endings and resolutions, comeuppance can be funny instead of pissing if audiences who are attached to characters, funny social commentary, etc

6

u/brusiddit Jun 12 '21

Yeah, and the petty as fuck shit that the reprobates in Seinfeld used to break up with people over, god damn. IASIP is like Seinfeld on PCP.

7

u/codymiller_cartoon Jun 12 '21

"friends, but its actually funny"

-37

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Friends is funnier though 🧐

8

u/brusiddit Jun 12 '21

Aye, get in the sea

2

u/ang3l12 Jun 13 '21

And find my ham

10

u/dont_shoot_jr Jun 12 '21

Could this be any better?

6

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Take your upvote, Ms. Chanandler Bong

47

u/gregariousfortune Jun 12 '21

I can't believe this show started in 2005.... Feels like yesterday when I started watching in 2008. Getting old is a bitch

25

u/Just_trying_it_out Jun 12 '21

It’s unfortunate that it’s so old now that people I’ve tried to recommend it to are put off by the video quality of the early seasons...

I get offended and call them shallow but that doesn’t seem to help for some reason

23

u/icyflakes Jun 12 '21

The video quality was awful even for the time, they were running on shoe string budget.

4

u/cepxico Jun 12 '21

It's still totally watchable. It's like watching Spaced, awful quality but fantastic show.

2

u/icyflakes Jun 12 '21

100% it is, I only first watched it last year and it's one of my favourite shows of all time. It's actually kinda jarring when they finally get proper cameras!

But it definitely is a turn off for people, and it's not because that's what cameras looked like at the time - other TV shows had way better quality.

3

u/kidicarus89 Jun 12 '21

Early Peep Show is like this too.

1

u/RileyRichard Jun 12 '21

And so was Trailer Park Boys for the first seven seasons and I will still never not piss myself laughing at some of the episodes nearly 20 years later.

1

u/bonerJR Jun 12 '21

Man I was so fortunate to be into shows in 2005, that as soon as I heard of this I started to watch it. Can't believe I've watched every season so many times but it's the greatest show ever made.

0

u/IndigoFerrari Jun 12 '21

I I I I, four of them.

6

u/jfishnl Jun 12 '21

Still one of the best moments of the series Franks flag raising

1

u/Hotter_Noodle Jun 12 '21

I didn't know it was gonna come off like that.

5

u/resistyrocks Jun 12 '21

Favorite Sunny promo https://youtu.be/9Xss-ELyapI for season 3.

3

u/jennyrob669 Jun 12 '21

Thanks for sharing I've never seen this.

They had the Friends moves down in the first half, looked exactly like the opening credits.

The police showing up was a nice touch.

3

u/falcon5768 Jun 12 '21

Fun fact, the original Friends theme song was Shiny Happy People by REM. They ended up changing it and the name of the show before it aired.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl5751mttoE

3

u/codymiller_cartoon Jun 12 '21

yikes, that's bad

2

u/GhostalMedia Jun 13 '21

Wowzers. That’s terrible.

3

u/ancapmike Jun 12 '21

Why are they playing in the fountain with that bird?

11

u/codymiller_cartoon Jun 12 '21

The cherry on top is the police showing up

2

u/baddoggg Jun 12 '21

I really wanted frank to pull his gun and start waving it around.

2

u/FaroutIGE Jun 12 '21

someone should dub the friends theme

2

u/COUnPLYm Jun 12 '21

I’ve seen it!

2

u/52ndstreet Jun 12 '21

Fun fact: that fountain is on the Warner Bros. lot and is the same fountain in the movie Hocus Pocus (1993).

1

u/Mattos_12 Jun 12 '21

Never seen why people liked Friends, Always Sunny is amazing.

3

u/codymiller_cartoon Jun 12 '21

i don't like it either, but i understand why - the first season is actually endearing, after that it became comfort tv. plus the actresses in particular were stylish/trendy. toss in the dream/fantasy life the characters were living, i can see the appeal.

0

u/fel2012ktl Jun 12 '21

Because people have different tastes in things. Wow what a concept.

0

u/po3smith Jun 12 '21

Holy shit 240P we meet again! Still great though - in fact its rather fitting. Frank uploaded this and decided to export in that res. Why? He is too fucking cheap to spend the time and data to do it that's why! lol.

-8

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

This is great. Both shows are good (but nothing beats Friends).

It’s extra funny with Danny deVito having been a stripper on Friends

2

u/fel2012ktl Jun 12 '21

Agreed. This thread is just full of FRIENDS haters for some reason

-27

u/ahtisham6tpa Jun 12 '21

I always defined sunny to people who doesnt watch as the exact opposite of what friends is and now I discovered this now. It's amazing.

14

u/Ccaves0127 Jun 12 '21

Where's that bot that reports spam? Because this is word for word the top comment on this video on YouTube

2

u/Worthyteach Jun 12 '21

I describe sunny as friends but with really horrible people

1

u/mattdangerously Jun 12 '21

Friends is Friends with really horrible people.

1

u/Worthyteach Jun 12 '21

That’s true

1

u/WEStuRFi Jun 12 '21

great job!

1

u/bkconn Jun 12 '21

What an amazing show to just pop up out of nowhere.

1

u/Vilkenman Jun 12 '21

As someone who doesn't really like Friends OR IASIP, this... it makes me like IASIP a lot less.

-30

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

4

u/milkycigarette Jun 12 '21

Idk if you just stopped watching entirely but there are some fantastic episodes throughout the newer seasons. They miss a bit more but it's still a good show.

-6

[deleted]

2

u/Just_trying_it_out Jun 12 '21

I think the second to last one had more misses than usual, I thought the last one was quite good

It does feel like they’ve had to make a lot of the satire more blatant but they’ve made it work quite often imo
